Welcome to Anna's Channel Challenge!

Thinking of Anna

A summary of her achievement

I have been lucky enough to see some of the preparations for Anna’s Channel swim attempt. Previously I had no idea of the scale of challenge she had taken on or the dedication it would take. In short, sheer guts, determination and single mindedness which has been an example to us all.

After swimming strongly for more than 18 miles her support team had to bring her onboard. The tidal stream had foiled her and four other hopeful swimmers nearby.

I was not there but I hear she is immensely disappointed. She has every right to be after the commitment in time, money and effort she has put in. I can, however, think of few other people that would even have thought of such a challenge, let alone got so close to success. What she has done is quite amazing and everyone who has followed her and been part of the experience knows this. She has succeeded in doing something quite off the scale of normal human endurance  …. and don’t let’s forget the terminally ill children who will benefit from the donations and those that need help from the Samaritans.

In my book this has all been so worthwhile for so many people. I believe it is now the turn of Anna’s fan club to show our universal support and make her understand what she has in fact achieved.

It will mean an enormous amount to her if people drop her notes on her website or by email* and, should they wish, keep the donations coming.
